Check List

  • Make sure all appliances work

  • Replace leaky faucets and frayed cords

  • Clean windows inside and out including screens

  • Be sure the doorbell, front porch and flood lights work

  • Keep porches, walks and driveways clean

  • Define flower/shrub beds, prune, and mulch; don’t have any foliage hanging over sidewalks

  • Clean baseboards and windowsills, top ledge of wainscoting and interior raised panel doors

  • Clean cabinet fronts and moldings, (Liquid Gold for wood)

  • Clean interior of ALL appliances that can be previewed (UNKEPT FRIG)

  • Vacuum carpet along baseboard line and corners, especially behind doors

  • Sweep interior corners free of webs

  • Sweep exterior spaces where webs have collected, especially the interior of garage, touch up paint in garage interior where needed

  • Front entrance needs to be very clean and have color with flowers that says, “welcome come in, I have been well maintained”, a fresh coat of paint on door and shutters if needed, and new door mat - the potential buyers is standing in your front entry looking up, down and all around while the realtor is getting the lockbox open!

  • Yard needs to be free of toys and debris; water hoses need to be coiled

  • Increase wattage in bulbs where permissible inside and outside, especially in porch and floodlights

  • Pantry should have minimum amount of neatly arranged items, NO PET FOOD

  • No pet food dishes in kitchen- relocate to garage during open house & showings

  • No pet food dishes in kitchen, remove from interior spaces for all open houses and showings

  • Remove stacks of mail

  • Clean and de-clutter closets, preferably leaving floors bare as possible, especially the coat and linen closets - buy matching hangers for each closet

  • To make closets appear larger, pre-pack off- season clothing and store out of sight

  • Put trash cans out of sight

  • Clean fireplace interior and glass doors

  • Clean interior of ceiling light fixture globes - clean ceiling fan blades and bulb covers – clean light switch and outlet covers throughout the house
